Southgate, Greater London Uniform Education SEN Teaching Assistant – N14 Southgate Location: N14, Southgate Start Date: September 2026 Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm Contract: School term-time only Day Rate: £105–£110 per day Age Range: Primary or Secondary – preference can be accommodated Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people? We are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to join a highly supportive specialist school in N14, Southgate, working with pupils aged 7–19 who have a range of special educational needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and committed SEN professional who has previous experience working within a school environment and wants to play an important role in supporting pupils' learning, development, confidence and independence. The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide high-quality support tailored to each pupil's individual needs. Key Responsibilities * Provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support to pupils with SEN * Help pupils access engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons * Support pupils with communication, social interaction, behaviour and emotional regulation * Work closely with class teachers to deliver learning activities and individualised support * Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive behaviour * Support pupils with school routines, transitions, break times and wider school activities * Contribute to monitoring pupil progress and maintaining appropriate records * Support the implementation of individual learning and positive behaviour strategies * Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and encourage their engagement in school life * Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels valued What We're Looking For The successful candidate will ideally have: * Previous school-based experience supporting pupils with SEN * A genuine passion for working with children and young people with additional needs * A good understanding of SEN, including communication, behaviour and engagement * Excellent communication and teamwork skills * A patient, resilient and compassionate approach * A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn * The ability to build strong and supportive relationships with pupils * An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one before starting (UES1)
