Santander Digital Services is looking for a Solutions Design Engineer based out of Unity Place, Milton Keynes.
The purpose of the role is to design and communicate functional solutions that meet the specific needs and requirements of a project or business initiative. Collaborate closely with stakeholders such as architecture, product owner, development teams along side other specialist areas o understand the objectives, constraints, and desired outcomes of the solution.

Leading the end-to-end design and architecture of technical solutions to address business needs and requirements.
Ability to translate business requirements into functional software specifications and gain approval from all stakeholders.
Identifying and mitigating technical risks associated with solution design implementation.
Ensuring alignment of solution designs with industry best practices, standards and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrates capable knowledge and experiences of IT concepts, processes, technologies within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) inside of an Agile framework.
Able to respond to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work, with the ability to address conflicts and handle multiple concurrent and diverse initiatives.
Takes a RiskPRO approach, looking for the positives, and acting with bravery and belief to take well considered risks that can provide opportunities to Santander and driving good outcomes.
Prepared to support a CAT A application in production including out of hours shared rota.

Professional Experience
Follows existing processes and standards in developing IT systems for information storing, delivering and optimizing. (Required)
Solves routine problems in the design process of platform architectural roadmaps; documents these issues. (Required)
Works with a specific agile development methodology. (Preferred)
Follows policies, practices and standards for determining functional and informational requirements. (Required)
Confirms deliverables associated with requirements analysis. (Required)
Communicates with customers and users to elicit and gather client requirements. (Required)
Participates in the preparation of detailed documentation and requirements. (Required)
Utilises specific organizational methods, tools and techniques for requirements analysis. (Required)
Explains products and services with little or no use of technical jargon or advanced vocabulary. (Preferred)
Education
Degree qualified in Software Engineering, IT, or alternatively equivalent qualifications and/or work experience supported by professional certifications/licences. (Preferred)
Hard Skills
Good knowledge in application integration using Web Service (SOAP / REST / GRPC) or Messaging using JMS, Kafka. (Preferred)
Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyse and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project. (Required)
Knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages. (Required)
Knowledge of agile methodologies and the agile development lifecycle; ability to utilize formal agile methodologies, disciplines, practices and techniques for the delivery of new and enhanced applications. (Preferred)
Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarisation and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience. (Required)
knowledge in Oracle, SQL, BPM products like jBPM or Cammunda, etc. (Preferred)
Soft Skills
Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills to communicate project status, negotiate complex discussions and resolve conflicts. Can adapts communication approaches when conducting dialogue with different audiences or conveying messages. (Required)
Outstanding Collaboration skills, working with stakeholders to understand business objectives, technical requirements, and constraints. (Required)
