About the role
Consultant - Geriatric Medicine (Stroke) - Royal Victoria Hospital
Locum Consultant required for the RVH Stroke Unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. £100/hr assignment rate. This is a 3-month assignment pending successful Trust recruitment.
The post is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week including 1.25 PA outpatient clinics (including one neurology clinic per week), 5.25 PAs of ward work including the Stroke Day Assessment Service (SDAS), 1.5 PAs for patient-related meetings, MDM, and patient administration, 1.5 PAs for predictable out-of-hours work, and 0.5 PA for governance-related meetings.
The successful candidate will deliver acute stroke care including thrombolysis, manage stroke rehabilitation pathways, and contribute to the multidisciplinary stroke team. Experience in delivering acute stroke care including thrombolysis is essential. A subspecialty interest in stroke medicine is highly desirable.
Essential requirements: Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Geriatric Medicine, Neurology, General Internal Medicine, Acute Internal Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, or Cardiology via CCT (within 6 months), CESR, or European Community Rights. MRCP(UK) or equivalent. Full GMC registration with licence to practise. At least 1 year UK clinical experience. AccessNI clearance (DBS does not suffice for Northern Ireland). ALS from an accredited course. Current professional indemnity insurance.
