About the role
Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Bradford
Start: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential for permanent placement)
Milk Education is recruiting confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a range of Primary schools in Bradford from September. Our partner schools are looking for reliable and adaptable HLTAs who can confidently support learning, lead classes, and provide consistency across the school.
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced HLTAs, experienced Teaching Assistants looking to progress, graduates with relevant experience, or education professionals looking for a long-term role with the potential for a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead whole-class lessons and deliver pre-planned learning activities when required.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils to help them achieve their learning targets.
- Support teachers with planning, preparation, assessment, and classroom activities.
- Manage classroom behaviour confidently and consistently in line with school policies.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the needs and abilities of individual pupils.
- Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence, and engagement with learning.
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Support pupils with SEND and provide appropriate strategies to help them access learning.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Take on additional responsibilities within the school where required.
About You
- Experienced and confident in supporting and leading learning within a Primary school.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Caring, patient, proactive, and adaptable.
- Able to confidently lead a class and work independently when required.
- Previous experience working as an HLTA or in a senior Teaching Assistant role is desirable.
- An HLTA qualification, relevant teaching qualification, degree, or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND would be beneficial.
- Available to work full-time from September.
