About the role

We are looking for an experienced RF Engineer to join our clients multidisciplinary New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Improvement teams.

Working closely with engineers, operators, technicians and suppliers, you’ll help create the technologies, tools, processes and engineering culture needed to deliver world-leading products and outstanding manufacturing performance.

This role will suit an engineer who enjoys getting hands-on, solving complex problems and seeing their designs become real products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design new RF electronics and amplifiers and take designs from concept through implementation, troubleshooting and documentation.
  • Deliver complete RF hardware development, including circuit architecture, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout and BOM creation.
  • Investigate and implement design enhancements to improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost.
  • Develop robust test plans, experiments and prototypes to validate new designs and investigate complex technical problems.
  • Perform RF measurements and characterisation of modules, circuits and components.
  • Collect accurate, conclusive test data and turn it into clear engineering conclusions and actionable improvements.
  • Analyse experimental data and use evidence-based engineering to guide design decisions.
  • Troubleshoot existing and legacy RF designs, identifying root causes and opportunities for improvement.
  • Define and implement product and process changes that address internal and external quality issues.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to production, collaborating with operators and technicians to solve problems and remove barriers to success.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively to demanding deadlines.

Skills / Experience Required

  • BSc or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Practical experience working within an NPI, product development or manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated experience taking an electronic design from concept through development and into production.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with everyone from experienced engineers to non-technical production staff.
  • Experience with HF/VHF solid-state amplifiers and self-excited oscillators.
  • Strong knowledge of HF/VHF semiconductors, RF components and their manufacturers.
  • Understanding of Class C, D and E amplifier operation.
  • Experience with high-frequency PCB design techniques and RF layout.
  • Experience designing high-power discrete-component matching networks.
  • Understanding of FCC/CE testing and certification requirements.

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • RF plasma power supplies.
  • Thermal management and high-power electronics.
  • Commercial or amateur HF/VHF solid-state amplifier design and troubleshooting.
  • Altium schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • SPICE, ADS or AWR simulation tools.
  • C/C++ and/or Python programming.

If you’re an RF engineer who enjoys designing, testing, troubleshooting and improving real-world high-power RF systems — and want to see your work make a tangible difference — we’d love to hear from you.
