Setting Out Engineer

Our client, a leading civil engineering firm specialising in the water sector, is currently seeking a Senior Setting Out Engineer to join their thriving team. In this permanent role, you will be responsible for managing the engineering and quality aspects across multiple sites, primarily within the civil engineering and water industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establishing the level and survey control for contracts, ensuring detailed works are set out as per contract drawings
• Supervising trainees and site engineers, ensuring they complete daily setting out activities with confidence
• Ensuring health and safety records and work environment are compliant with organisational and legal requirements
• Delivering projects safely, without environmental incidents, and ensuring specified quality standards are met
• Collaborating with the Site Agent/Sub Agent to develop efficient work methods and techniques
• Managing procurement by undertaking pre-start material take-offs and populating material procurement schedules
• Conducting quality audits and compiling quality management plans
• Maintaining positive working relationships across all levels of the project team and stakeholders

Job Requirements:

• Experience in setting out civil engineering projects, including reinforced concrete works
• Experience within the water industry would be an advantage
• Degree/HNC or equivalent in civil engineering
• Proficiency in using AutoCAD
• Ability to manage and deliver successful projects with minimal guidance
• Strong report-writing and record-keeping skills
• Excellent communication abilities, capable of engaging with client representatives, site team, and operatives
• CSCS Card and SMSTS certification
