About the role
HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) - Civil Team
Location: Trident House, Little St John Street, Chester, Cheshire, CH1 2SN
Pay Rate: £12.86 per hour (first 12 weeks), rising to £13.25 per hour thereafter
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Working Pattern: Fully Office Based
Assignment Length: Until 31 March 2027
Potential for Extension: Yes
DBS Requirement: Basic DBS Check (to be provided by Brook Street for successful applicants)
About the Role
Brook Street is currently recruiting for an Administrative Officer on behalf of HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) to join the Civil Team at Chester Civil and Family Justice Centre.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a government department, providing essential administrative support and contributing to the smooth running of court services.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing papers and files for court hearings, tribunals and meetings
- Producing and processing court documents
- Creating and updating records on internal systems
- Carrying out accurate data entry and record management tasks
- Drafting standard letters and correspondence
- Clerking Civil and Family Court hearings and tribunals
- Assisting court users and members of the public with general enquiries
- Providing general administrative support to the wider team

The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous administrative experience
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good IT and data entry skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- A professional and customer-focused approach
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
