W&A is supporting a global organisation in appointing a Payroll Transformation Lead for a two-year fixed-term contract, based just outside Glasgow, with hybrid working.
Sitting at the heart of a major Finance Transformation programme, you’ll lead a high-profile workstream focused on creating a more consistent, scalable and well-controlled global payroll operating model.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact role within a wider Finance Transformation programme, with responsibility for helping shape the future of payroll across the organisation.
You’ll lead the payroll workstream, bringing together people, processes and technology to create a more consistent and efficient approach. Working with stakeholders across the business, you’ll turn transformation priorities into practical plans and help ensure change is delivered effectively.
Key Responsibilities

- Help shape and improve end-to-end payroll processes and ways of working.
- Develop clear plans, priorities and longer-term payroll initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise, and improve payroll processes.
- Support payroll-related systems and technology change.
- Manage key risks, dependencies and delivery priorities.
- Develop meaningful payroll KPIs and performance measures.
- Build strong relationships across Finance, HR and the wider business.
- Champion effective change and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong end-to-end payroll knowledge and experience.
- Experience within payroll transformation, change or process improvement.
- Exposure to ERP or payroll systems change would be beneficial.
- An ability to turn complex requirements into practical solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- A collaborative approach with the confidence to challenge and drive change.
- Experience in a global or complex organisation would be advantageous.
Package & Benefits
- Competitive salary and bonus opportunity.
- Two-year fixed-term contract.
- Generous holiday entitlement with buy and sell options.
- Private healthcare and remote GP service.
- Generous company pension contributions.
- Life assurance.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- Cycle to Work scheme.
- Learning and development resources.
- Additional employee and charitable benefits.
Reasons to Join
- Take ownership of an important payroll transformation workstream.
- Influence how payroll operates across a global organisation.
- Combine payroll expertise with transformation and change.
- Work with stakeholders across Finance, HR and the wider business.
- Make a tangible, long-term impact rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
