Avencia are partnered with a leading specialist insurer to recruit an Underwriter into their growing Renewals team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing and collaborative team, supporting a broad portfolio across Professional & Management Risks and Charity business. The role sits within a fast-paced, broker-facing environment, with a strong focus on service, retention, and relationship management.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of renewals and mid-term adjustments, working closely with brokers to retain and grow business. The role offers strong exposure across multiple product lines and a high level of autonomy within underwriting authority.
Key responsibilities include:

Managing and underwriting renewals and mid-term adjustments across multiple product lines
Delivering a high level of service to brokers via Acturis, email and phone
Proactively following up on renewals to secure and retain business
Building strong relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders
Monitoring broker activity and identifying opportunities for improvement or growth
Supporting wider team initiatives and ad hoc projects

Skills & Experience
Essential

2+ years' experience within underwriting or a technical broking role
Experience in commercial insurance
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a high-volume workload
Confident communicator, comfortable handling broker queries via phone and email
Keen to continue developing technically, with support for CII qualifications

Financial lines experience
Experience using Acturis
