We are seeking Maintenance Technician to join our clients team and play a vital role in keeping their advanced manufacturing operation running safely, efficiently and reliably.The successful candidate will take ownership of preventive maintenance, fault finding, repair and improvement across a diverse range of machinery and facilities equipment. From CNC milling machines and EDM equipment to vacuum coating plants, lapping machines, motors, pumps and control systems, you’ll help ensure equipment performs at its best.This is a hands-on role in which you will work closely with the wider Maintenance and Engineering teams, production colleagues, contractors and suppliers, helping us develop a proactive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) culture and continuously improve equipment reliability and production performance. Main Duties
Carry out planned and preventive maintenance across a wide range of manufacturing and facilities equipment.Maintain and troubleshoot motors, CNC milling machines, EDM equipment, vacuum coating plants, lapping machines, pumps, control systems and associated infrastructure.Diagnose faults, identify root causes and carry out effective repairs to minimise equipment downtime.Support the development and implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives.Read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, sketches and manufacturer instructions.Carry out mechanical fabrication, electrical installation, machine assembly and basic electronic work.Use a range of power tools and electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment safely and effectively.Complete scheduled maintenance activities in line with daily priorities and agreed deadlines.Work collaboratively with maintenance colleagues, production teams, contractors and suppliers.Carry out risk assessments and follow safe systems of work, ensuring a clean, safe and compliant working environment.Contribute ideas and practical improvements that increase equipment reliability, safety and production efficiency.Respond effectively to changing priorities and maintenance requirements across different areas of the business.
Skills / Knowledge Required
Apprenticeship trained, with NVQ Level 2/3 in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance or a related discipline, City & Guilds Level 2/3, or equivalent relevant experience.Previous experience maintaining manufacturing or production equipment.Good mechanical and electrical understanding, including experience with:
Mechanical fabricationElectrical installationMachine assemblyBasic electronics
Practical experience using power tools and mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment.Ability to understand and work from engineering drawings, diagrams and technical instructions.Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and manage multiple maintenance activities across different departments.A calm, methodical approach and the ability to work effectively under pressure.Strong attention to detail
The following experience or qualifications would be advantageous:
Experience working with lathes, mills, grinders or lapping equipment.HNC/HND in Engineering or Electrical Engineering.18th Edition electrical qualification.Experience with CNC, EDM, vacuum coating or other specialist manufacturing equipment.Experience contributing to TPM or other continuous improvement programmes.
