Civil Lead

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Lead to manage and deliver a range of civil engineering design projects while leading a small team.
This role is ideal for a senior engineer with strong technical expertise in drainage and infrastructure design, combined with leadership experience and client-facing capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small team of civil engineers and technicians
• Oversee the delivery of civil engineering designs across multiple projects
• Take responsibility for below ground drainage design, including:
  • Drainage strategies
  • Flood Risk Assessments (FRA)
  • SuDS design
• Liaise with statutory authorities and external stakeholders
• Review and check design work to ensure quality and compliance
• Support project delivery from concept through to completion
• Represent the business in meetings with clients and third parties

Requirements

Essential

• Minimum 10 years' experience in civil engineering design
• Proven experience leading or managing a small team
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Civil engineering design principles
  • Below ground drainage systems
  • Flood risk assessments and associated approvals
  • Working with statutory authorities
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or close to achieving Chartership
• Experience in highway design and infrastructure projects
• Broad knowledge across all aspects of civil engineering design

• Strong technical background with a hands-on approach
• Confident leader who can mentor and guide junior staff
• Commercially aware with good project management skills
• Flexible and pragmatic-able to take a "view" where needed (as per client culture)
