DevOps / Application Engineer

London, UK CBSbutler Holdings Limited trading as CBSbutler Application DevOps Engineer - Python London - Hybrid Contract £550 - £650 per day insideIR35 Financial Services Firm is hiring for an experienced Application DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting critical technology platforms. This is a hands-on role focused on Python automation, production stability, application resilience and continuous improvement within a complex, high-volume technology environment. You will work across application, infrastructure and engineering teams to improve the reliability, scalability and operational performance of business-critical platforms. Responsibilities: * Develop Python-based automation and tooling to improve operational efficiency. * Support and enhance critical production applications and services. * Drive improvements across resilience, availability, performance and capacity. * Manage deployments, releases, production readiness and failover activities. * Implement monitoring, alerting and observability solutions. * Troubleshoot complex application, infrastructure and batch-processing issues. * Identify root causes and deliver sustainable technical solutions. * Contribute to CI/CD, automation and wider DevOps and engineering best practices. Skills and Experience: * Strong Python development skills, particularly for automation & operational tooling. * Experience in DevOps, Production Engineering, Platform Engineering or SRE. * Experience supporting business-critical, high-availability applications. * Good understanding of CI/CD, deployment, monitoring and software development lifecycles. * Knowledge of distributed systems, resilience, failover and capacity management. * Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across applications and infrastructure. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. * Proactive approach with strong ownership and problem-solving capability. It would be an added advantage if you had any of the following: * Financial Services, Capital Markets or Trading Technology experience. * Exposure to risk, trading or regulatory technology. * Cloud, containers and modern DevOps tooling. * Large-scale distributed or high-performance computing environments.
