About the role
Based in Stevenage Salary Circa £43,500, depending on experience | Hybrid, 4 to 5 days on site This is a manufacturing engineering role sitting inside a Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) team, working across the full lifecycle of electronics manufacture. You'll be involved in early development builds, low volume and high mix, right through to maturing designs for transition into serial production. It's the kind of role where you see a product change from prototype to repeatable process, and you have a direct hand in how that happens. Working alongside a Principal Engineer, you'll be the person who turns a design into something that can actually be built, reliably, safely and to spec, on the shop floor. What you'll actually be doing:
- Writing and reviewing manufacturing work instructions
- Reviewing and controlling design changes, including Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and maintenance
- Resolving day-to-day issues with the operations team on the shop floor
- Supporting continuous improvement (CI) activity and the non-conformance process
- Working with the design authority on Design for Manufacture (DfM) during prototype and development, and supporting the NPI team on design rules for PCBA manufacturability
- Developing and maintaining manufacturing methods, processes and equipment
- Performing and reviewing PFMEAs
- Developing tooling to support manufacturing
- Creating and modifying machine programmes for PCBA manufacture and inspection
- A formal technical engineering or craft apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3, plus further education to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant subject, OR a degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- A proactive approach to problem solving, with the ability to work to delivery milestones
- The ability to interpret design drawings and translate them into manufacturing build instructions
- Comfortable working within and contributing to a team environment
- Eligible for British Citizen or Dual UK national status, and able to pass BPSS checks
- Electrical or electronics manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with digital communication platforms used in a manufacturing environment
