Core Trainee - Respiratory Medicine (Weekend Cover)

Locum Core Trainee required for ongoing weekend cover on the Respiratory Medicine ward at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. This recurring assignment runs from late August through October 2026, covering Saturday and Sunday shifts 08:00–14:00.

The Respiratory Medicine department at the RVH manages a high-acuity inpatient caseload including COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, pleural disease, interstitial lung disease, and non-invasive ventilation. Weekend cover involves ward rounds, managing acute deterioration, liaising with ICU and physiotherapy teams, and ensuring safe discharge planning.

This role is suitable for F2, Core Trainee, IMT, or ST-level doctors with an interest in respiratory or general medicine. You will work under consultant supervision with on-call support available.

• Valid GMC registration with licence to practise
• Right to work in the UK
• Up-to-date DBS/AccessNI clearance
• Professional indemnity insurance
• Minimum 2 professional references
• Familiarity with respiratory medicine ward environment
