About the role
Job summary
The Relationship Management team has overall responsibility for the relationships that the DBS has with Registered Bodies (RBs) and Responsible Organisations (ROs).
The RB network consists of 550 organisations that are responsible for submitting more than 4 million Standard and Enhanced DBS checks per year. The RO network consists of 90 ROs responsible for submitting 2.5 million Basic DBS checks per year.
The Relationship Management team provide a stakeholder management and compliance function to RBs and ROs.
Job description
The Support Team Manager will:
· Lead and manage team of EO Support Managers.
· Perform line management duties in accordance with DBS policies, procedures and agreed working practices, maintaining confidentiality, and seeking advice/guidance from HR when appropriate.
· Engage in monthly 1-to-1 check-ins with all direct reports to listen to and discuss performance, wellbeing, and development. Provide direction, resources and recognise and appreciate effort put in to work towards success.
· Actively provide coaching, learning and support to aid colleagues, peers and direct reports achieve their work and development goals.
· Provide daily line management and support to all direct reports. Managing poor performance and challenging inappropriate behaviours in good time to support improvement.
· Oversee the EO compliance manager activities outlined within the RB and RO Compliance Policy and procedure.
· Monitor the compliance spreadsheet to ensure activities are completed within the timeframes set out in the procedure to ensure that the KPI is achieved.
· Carry out QA checks and raise any issues identified with Compliance Managers. Provide additional support and training to team members if needed.
· Refer RBs/ROs for inspection to SEO and provide rational for referral.
· Work in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of DBS Strategy and BAU service delivery.
· Identify relevant stakeholder groups and ensure appropriate communication and engagement methods are in place, including ensuring staff have the communication materials and methods in place to engage with their key accounts.
· Deliver consistent and clear communication to stakeholders.
· Ensure support managers are engaging with RBs and ROs as required.
· Provide EOs with the information and guidance they need to carry out support work with RBs and ROs.
· Monitor the team inbox and allocate emails to team members, including Basic Profile matching conflicts.

Essential -
Ability -
- Strong written and inter-personal communication skills
- Ability to manage individual and team performance through coaching, feedback and performance management.
Experience -
- Line Management experience
- Experience of effective collaboration with internal & external stakeholders, developing a reliable and mutually beneficial business relationship
- Experience of presenting information, leading meetings and producing reports.

Technical -
- Understanding of legislation and obligations relating to Registered Bodies and Responsible Organisations and eligibility for DBS checks.
- Understanding of the DBS application process.
- Understanding of DBS governance, compliance and data protection requirements in relation to Registered Body and Responsible Organisation responsibilities.
