About the role

Lead Teaching Assistant | Academic Mentor & Pedagogical Lead

Location: Local Secondary Schools (Across KS3, KS4 & KS5)

Salary: £95.00 - £115.00 per day (Scale-linked | Weekly Pay)

Redefining the Role: From Supervision to Academic Leadership

Are you a high-achieving graduate or an experienced educator looking to bridge the gap between classroom support and pedagogical leadership? We are seeking a Lead Teaching Assistant to act as a pivotal academic bridge in our secondary network.

This isn't just about managing a classroom; it's about strategic academic intervention and pastoral advocacy. This role is specifically designed for professionals aiming for School Direct programs, Educational Psychology, or Senior Pastoral leadership.

Key Areas of Impact
  • Instructional Support & Subject Specialism: Leverage your degree-level expertise to deliver high-impact interventions in core subjects (STEM, Humanities, or English), directly influencing GCSE and A-Level attainment.
  • Strategic Mentorship: Serve as a Lead Mentor for "at-risk" students, designing bespoke confidence-building frameworks and resilience workshops.
  • Pedagogical Collaboration: Work as a consultant to Subject Leads, identifying gaps in student understanding and co-developing differentiated resources for inclusive learning.
  • Professional Development: Gain exposure to senior leadership meetings, data tracking (attainment mapping), and specialised SEND strategies.
Core Responsibilities

Targeted Interventions

Designing and leading 1:1 and small-group "Mastery" sessions for Pupil Premium and High-Prior-Attainers.

SEND Advocacy

Managing complex EHCP requirements and implementing Adaptive Teaching strategies to ensure total curriculum accessibility.

Behavioral Leadership

Utilising de-escalation techniques and restorative justice practices to maintain a high-standard learning environment.

Exam Access Leadership

Overseeing scribe/reader requirements and coaching students on time management and exam technique.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for "High-Level" practitioners who bring more than just a presence to the classroom. You are a fit if you possess:

  • Academic Excellence: A strong undergraduate degree or a proven track record of significant academic support in a secondary setting.
  • Expert Communication: The ability to translate complex theoretical concepts into digestible, engaging content for learners aged 11-18.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: A "leads-from-the-front" attitude, with the ability to anticipate classroom needs before they arise.
  • Safeguarding Command: A deep understanding of KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education) and a commitment to the holistic welfare of students.
Why Step Up with Randstad?
  • Premium Daily Rates: Reflecting your experience and the higher level of responsibility (£95 - £115 per day).
  • Gold-Standard Training: Access to exclusive CPD modules including Advanced Behaviour Management and Neurodiversity Awareness.
  • No "Take-Home" Burden: Professional impact during school hours, allowing for a genuine work-life balance.
