Are you a qualified engineering technician looking to build a long-term career within the rail industry? We are recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation in the rail rolling stock sector for a Preventative Maintenance Technician to join their highly skilled team at their modern depot in Edinburgh (Gogar).

The Role
As a Preventative Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and availability of the fleet by carrying out planned maintenance, inspections, overhauls, and repairs on rolling stock vehicles.
Working as part of an experienced maintenance team, you will use your engineering expertise across a range of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, while developing your skills through a comprehensive training programme.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on rolling stock vehicles.
- Performing inspections, servicing, overhauls, and repairs.
- Undertaking basic fault finding and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.
- Working on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Completing maintenance documentation accurately and in line with company procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping.
- Working collaboratively within a supportive engineering team.
Full Training & Development
From day one, youll begin a structured Light Rail Maintenance Training Programme, designed to develop your technical knowledge and provide you with the specialist skills required for the role.

Your training will include:
- Mentoring alongside experienced maintenance technicians.
- Classroom-based technical learning.
- Online training modules.
- Practical hands-on training across a variety of vehicle systems.

What Were Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
- Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
- Post-apprenticeship engineering experience.
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance skills.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive approach with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
- A full, valid UK driving licence.
- Flexibility to work shifts (flexible working arrangements may be considered).
