 The role:

• As a Targeted Services Officer with responsibility for victim engagement, you will play a key role in supporting victims of youth crime, ensuring that their voices are heard, their rights are upheld, and their needs are recognised and addressed
• Working as part of a multi-agency team, you will maintain direct contact with victims, providing information about the progress and outcomes of interventions with children and young people who have offended, while also signposting and facilitating access to appropriate support services
• Working in accordance with the Victims’ Code, our Targeted Services Officers must take full account of each victim’s personal characteristics, needs, views, and circumstances, recognising that every victim may require different levels and types of support

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored, victim-centred support to victims of youth crime, offering information, emotional support, advocacy, and signposting to appropriate services.  
• Engage with victims to ensure their views, wishes, and experiences are heard and appropriately considered within the youth justice process
• Work collaboratively with children and young people subject to Youth Justice interventions, supporting accountability, reparation, and positive outcomes.  
• Promote and facilitate restorative justice approaches, where appropriate and with the informed consent of all parties, enabling victims to have a voice and supporting children and young people to understand the impact of their behaviour.  
• Liaise effectively with partner agencies, including Police, Children's Services, education providers, health services, and community organisations, to ensure victims receive coordinated and holistic support.  
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records, assessments, and reports in line with organisational policies and statutory requirements, ensuring victims' views, needs, and outcomes are appropriately recorded.  
• We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and motivated individual who can build positive relationships with victims and young people. You should have:  
• Experience working in victim support, youth justice, social work, or a related field
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of restorative justice principles and victim rights
• The ability to work with vulnerable individuals in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner
• A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity
• The ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends if required
• A DBS check will be required for this role/essential car user
