About the role
Salary up to £50,000 (DOE) | Hybrid Working | Excellent Benefits | Genuine Career Progression
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Duty Solicitor to join a progressive and highly regarded law firm in Lancashire.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a firm renowned for delivering high-quality legal advice across a broad range of privately funded and legally aided services.
Joining a supportive and forward-thinking team, you'll benefit from genuine flexibility, high-quality work and the opportunity to develop your career within a firm that values autonomy, collaboration and exceptional client care.
The Role
You will manage your own criminal defence caseload, representing clients from the earliest stages of proceedings through to court appearances while delivering practical, professional and client-focused legal advice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied caseload of criminal defence matters.
- Representing clients at Police Stations and Magistrates' Courts.
- Participating in the out-of-hours Police Station rota.
- Conducting your own advocacy wherever appropriate.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and professional contacts.
- Undertaking networking and business development activities to generate new work and strengthen your local profile.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider criminal team to deliver the highest standards of client care.
The Candidate
Applications are welcomed from Solicitors and Chartered Legal Executives who can demonstrate:
- A minimum of 3 years' PQE in Criminal Law.
- Duty Solicitor accreditation, or a genuine willingness to obtain accreditation if not already qualified.
- The ability to manage a busy caseload independently and work with a high degree of autonomy.
- Strong advocacy skills and confidence conducting your own hearings.
- Excellent technical knowledge and procedural expertise.
- A commitment to exceptional client care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, flexible and commercially minded approach to practice development.
The Opportunity
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a firm that genuinely invests in its people. You'll become part of a friendly, supportive and ambitious team where collaboration is encouraged, achievements are recognised and micromanagement is replaced by trust and autonomy.
The firm offers true flexibility, allowing you to work in a way that best meets the needs of both clients and the business. Alongside high-quality criminal defence work, you'll enjoy the security of joining a multidisciplinary practice with an excellent reputation across both privately funded and legally aided legal services.
In return, the firm offers a competitive salary, flexible working, genuine opportunities for career progression and a positive working environment where you'll be supported to develop both professionally and personally.
