About the role
Multiverse is the upskilling platform for AI and Tech adoption.
We have partnered with 1,500+ companies to deliver a new kind of learning that's transforming today’s workforce.
Our upskilling apprenticeships are designed for people of any age and career stage to build critical AI, data, and tech skills. Our learners have driven $2bn+ ROI for their employers, using the skills they’ve learned to improve productivity and measurable performance.
In April 2026, we announced $70 million in strategic funding, led by Schroders Capital, with participation from StepStone Group, Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst. At an increased valuation of $2.1bn, the round makes us Europe’s first EdTech double unicorn.
But we aren’t stopping there. With a strong operational footprint and 800+ employees, we have ambitious plans to continue scaling. We’re building a world where tech skills unlock people’s potential and output.
Join Multiverse and power our mission to equip the workforce to win in the AI era.
Our Legal team sits at the heart of that growth. This is a commercial role at its core: contracts and deals are the day job, with plenty of exposure to AI, data, regulatory, and corporate work alongside.
The Opportunity
This is a rare in-house role. A commercial counsel role with real breadth and even more ownership. Reporting to our Senior Legal Counsel, you'll own commercial contracts end to end, act as a trusted partner to the business, and lead cross-functional projects with real independence.
No two weeks look the same. One week you're leading a customer negotiation with our sales team. Next you're advising Product on an AI feature. You'll get variety, ownership, and the room to take work from first scoping to done.
If you want real ownership, thrive on variety, and want your work to matter across a fast-growing business, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
Commercial Law
Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts independently — customer MSAs, public procurement frameworks, supplier T&Cs, professional services agreements, NDAs, and RFPs/bids.
GTM Partnership: Act as a key legal partner to the Go-To-Market sales team — provide proactive, commercially-minded guidance, join customer calls to lead negotiations, and ensure Legal scales with GTM to meet our growth objectives.
Risk Management: Conduct legal risk assessments and proactively identify and mitigate risks, exercising sound judgment on when to escalate and when to resolve independently.
Prioritisation & Delivery: Balance competing priorities across commercial deals, cross-functional projects, and business-as-usual legal work: knowing what to prioritise, using AI tools to work faster, and consistently meeting deadlines without close oversight.
Technology, AI and IP Support
Product & Platform: Advise Product/Tech teams on legal issues arising from product development, feature launches, and platform decisions.
AI Legal Landscape & Related Contracting: Review AI-related contractual provisions — IP ownership, liability, indemnities, and ethical use — and advise on how to contract safely around AI-driven products and services. Stay current on emerging AI regulation, market norms, and evolving legal standards; familiarity with the EU AI Act is advantageous, or a strong interest in developing expertise here.
IP: Support the management of Multiverse's IP portfolio, including trademark protection, licensing provisions, and IP considerations in new product features.
Project Management, Legal Operations & Cross-Functional Support
End-to-End Project Ownership: Own and drive cross-functional legal projects from scoping through to delivery: bringing the right people together, managing deadlines, and keeping everyone informed, with minimal supervision.
Legal Operations: Take ownership of internal legal resources (playbooks, clause libraries, templates) and help establish agile, tech-enabled processes that use AI to streamline the legal team's ways of working.
Team Development: Support other lawyers on their workstreams and provide hands-on guidance to our paralegal — building capability across the team.
Training & Enablement: Design and deliver training to the teams you support on key legal, commercial, and regulatory topics.
Privacy Partnership: Partner with the Privacy team on data protection requirements across products and commercial agreements.
Cross-Functional Support: Provide legal support to People, Privacy & Compliance, Finance, and Operations/Delivery/Learning — context-switching confidently across practice areas with a genuine interest in developing as a multi-specialist lawyer.
About You
Core Requirements
Qualification: Qualified solicitor in England & Wales. We're looking for crica 3 - 5 years post-qualification experience, but we care more about the depth and relevance of your experience than an exact PQE number.
Training: A strong private practice background, ideally trained at a leading national or international law firm. What matters most is the analytical rigour, sharp judgment and precise drafting discipline that top-tier training builds, wherever you build it.
In-House Experience: Ideally at least 1 year In-house experience, ideally at a SaaS/technology company (by permanent move or secondment). We need someone who has already made the transition from practice and operates as a business partner, not an external advisor.
Legal Tech & AI: Comfort leveraging legal technology and generative AI tools to streamline contract review, accelerate drafting, and optimize legal operations.
Commercial & Privacy Experience: Strong end-to-end B2B commercial contracts experience for both customers and suppliers, with solid GDPR and data privacy knowledge and experience working on data protection matters in a commercial context.
Project Management: Demonstrable ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, working autonomously with strong attention to detail under time pressure.
Business vs. Risk Judgement: A solid understanding of when the business needs a quick, pragmatic reply versus when a matter requires a thorough deep dive.
Great to Have
Familiarity with or strong interest in the AI legal landscape including regulation and experience advising on legal issues related to AI products and services.
Experience with or exposure to M&A, corporate governance, or regulatory compliance.
Skills & Attributes
Autonomous Execution: You take ownership of delegated work and drive it to completion with confidence. You escalate when appropriate but don't need daily oversight.
Commercial Pragmatism: You identify the real risk, propose a practical solution, and help the business get to "yes" safely.
Stakeholder Credibility & Communication: Teams trust your advice because you understand their priorities, not because you wav
