Balfor Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support students in  Year 3 within a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Ellesmere Port.

This rewarding role is ideal for someone with extensive experience supporting children with complex needs, including Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The successful candidate will provide consistent support and create a structured and nurturing learning environment, helping the pupil engage positively with school life and achieve their individual goals.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing dedicated support to a Year 3 pupil throughout the school day.
• Building a positive and trusting relationship to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.
• Supporting the implementation of personalised learning strategies and behaviour support plans.
• Working closely with teachers, SEND professionals and parents to ensure consistent support.
• Using positive behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies where appropriate.
• Encouraging independence, communication and social development.
• Supporting the pupil both inside and outside the classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience supporting pupils with complex SEND needs.
• Has knowledge and understanding of PDA, ADHD and ASD.
• Demonstrates patience, resilience and a calm, consistent approach.
• Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Can adapt quickly to changing situations and individual needs.
• Is passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child’s life.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum of six months’ experience working within a UK school setting.
• Experience supporting children with autism and additional learning needs.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
• Recent education-based references.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
