Salary: £160 – £260 per day

This specialist Alternative Provision supports students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. The school provides a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment where pupils receive personalized support to overcome barriers to learning and achieve both academically and personally.

The Role

As a Humanities Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in a small class environment, supporting students with a range of SEMH needs. Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will help pupils build confidence, develop positive behaviors, and re-engage with education.

Key Responsibilities

As a Humanities Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging Humanities lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Teach subjects including Humanities, Religious Education (RE), and Health & Social Care where appropriate.
• Support students with SEMH needs using positive behavior management strategies.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress, adapting teaching methods to maximize achievement.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, careers, and external professionals.
• Promote resilience, confidence, independence, and personal development alongside academic success.

Requirements

To be considered for this Humanities Teacher position, you will need:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience working within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Alternative Provision, or with students with SEMH needs.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
