Are you an experienced, warranted AMHP who thrives on person-centred practice, strengths-based assessments, and delivering high-quality statutory mental health services?

An excellent opportunity has opened for an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Social Worker to join the Adult Mental Health Team in Middlesbrough. In this dual-focused role, you will contribute directly to improving the lives of local residents by balancing duty rota responsibilities with dedicated, personalized case management.


Key Highlights of the Role
  • Balanced Workload: Participate in the local AMHP duty rota while holding a small, manageable caseload to maintain high practice standards.

  • Person-Centred Focus: Deliver strengths-based interventions that look at informal, community-focused support alongside statutory services.

  • Community Impact: Play a vital statutory role in protecting and safeguarding vulnerable adults across Middlesbrough against abuse and neglect.


Core Responsibilities
  • Duty AMHP Rota: Participate actively in the statutory AMHP duty rota, carrying out Mental Health Act assessments and triage duties as required.

  • Personalised Assessments: Complete holistic Care Act and mental health assessments, clearly identifying individual needs while actively listening to the adult's voice and understanding their personal context.

  • Care & Support Planning: Design and implement tailored care plans that utilize informal support networks, community assets, and statutory interventions.

  • Adult Safeguarding: Identify, respond to, and work proactively with adults to safeguard them from abuse, neglect, and harm.


Mandatory Candidate Requirements
  • Professional Status: Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

  • AMHP Qualification: Must hold a recognized Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification alongside a current warrant.

  • Statutory Experience: Proven track record of working with adults within statutory local authority mental health teams.
