Location: Allentown, PA (Onsite)Openings: 1Job Type: ContractDuration: 1 YearRate: $26.80/hour (W2) + BenefitsHours: 40 hours/week Project: Gas TurbinesWorking Hours: 2nd shift 2pm-10pmAs a Machine Operator you will work at the Allentown, PA Metem a GE Power businessmanufacturing plant and operate a variety of production equipment and tooling. You will also haveownership of safety, compliance, quality, and productivity.What you'll do• Set-up and operate and troubleshoot CNC, EDM, and/or ECM machines to performmachining operations, fast hole drilling, graphite shaping on metal castings, forgings and barstock according to specifications and set-up instructions, applying knowledge of machiningmethods.• Study blueprint and set-up instructions to determine machining required, dimensionalspecifications, work procedures and methods. Determine tool lengths, maintain tool changelist and program measuring adjustments.• Install work holding devices such as blocks and tooling on table of machine using handtools. Lift work piece on table manually or with other material handling equipment andposition and secure work piece on machine table or in holding device.• Select and install tooling, place electrodes in automatic-tool-changer (if required) insequence specified on process sheet.• Observe numerical displays on control panel and compare with data on process sheet toverify dimensional adjustments, feed rates and speed of machining cuts. Check program atstart of each shift.• Inspect first-run piece, maintain measured dimension list. Record and inspect keydimensions for conformance to specifications using micrometer and precision dial gauges.What you will bring• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.• Minimum of one-year experience in EDM/CNC/ECM or tooling production or equivalent.Eligibility Requirements• Ability to work overtime as required including occasional weekend shift.• Know how to read blueprint drawings• Ability to use calipers, micrometers, precision tools• Set-up and operate and troubleshoot CNC, EDM, and/or ECM machines to perform machiningoperations• Ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.• This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and thisposting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protectedindividuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior toemployment.Desired Characteristics• You are someone who brings a positive, team-centered method of work to foster a collaborativeenvironment.• You have experience with computerized shop floor tools.• You have an ability to follow written instructions and take verbal instructions for multipleassembly tasks in a manufacturing shop environment.• Mechanically Inclined
