Year 1 SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)

Contract: Full Time | Temporary to Permanent

Provide Education is recruiting for a caring and committed Year 1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Mexborough area (S64) from September.

This is a full-time, 1:1 support role working with a Year 1 child with autism. The successful candidate will provide consistent, nurturing support to help the pupil access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

The Role

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 child with autism.
• Support the pupil’s academic, social and emotional development.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals to deliver tailored support strategies.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs.
• Promote positive behaviour, communication and independence.
• Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the pupil while encouraging inclusion within the classroom.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience supporting children with autism and/or other special educational needs is desirable.
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to adapt to the individual needs of the child.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are beneficial but not essential if you have suitable experience.
