Senior Mechanical Engineer (MEICA)Location: North East England Start Date: September 2026 Duration: 43-month contract Employment Type: ContractThe OpportunityMorson is supporting a leading engineering consultancy in recruiting an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of a major flood risk and asset management programme in the North East of England.This is an exciting opportunity to provide Senior User technical support across a portfolio of complex capital infrastructure projects, helping to deliver critical flood resilience and water infrastructure schemes.The RoleAs the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide specialist mechanical engineering expertise throughout the design, construction and commissioning phases of major MEICA projects.Your responsibilities will include:Providing Senior User mechanical engineering support on major capital projects. Reviewing mechanical designs, specifications and technical documentation. Supporting engineering assurance and technical governance activities. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and stakeholders. Advising on mechanical systems, equipment selection and engineering best practice. Supporting commissioning, testing and handover activities where required. Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and project requirements. Essential RequirementsYou will demonstrate:Extensive mechanical engineering experience within the UK water industry. Proven experience supporting major MEICA capital projects. Strong understanding of mechanical systems associated with water and flood infrastructure. Experience providing technical assurance or senior engineering support. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Availability from 1 September 2026. Ability to commit to a 43-month programme. Desirable ExperienceCandidates with experience in the following will be highly regarded:Flood risk and coastal infrastructure projects. Pumping stations and hydraulic infrastructure. Major civil engineering schemes. Working with regulated public sector organisations. Chartered Engineer status or membership of a recognised professional institution (e.g. IMechE).
