About the role
Senior Systems EngineerNew Malden, Surrey (hybrid working 3-4 days per week onsite) – 12 month contract – Pay rate £50 p/h PAYE basic (£58.20 p/h including holiday pay) or £67.47 p/h UmbrellaThe SMCS Senior Systems Engineer will be a key part of the Systems Team, tasked with developing the SMCS programmes. They will ensure the behaviour of the system is defined via requirements, assist with the design of functionality and support verification of the product. The Systems team’s work encompasses system design, requirements & acceptance management, hardware design & maintenance and other general systems engineering considerations such as Security, Safety, Human Factors, Performance, Availability & Reliability.Responsibilities:
Maintain the Requirements database with associated contractual and acceptance details.Take a lead role in the testing and acceptance process for both hardware & software releases.Lead activities to support the Systems team with:
a. Elaboration and agreement of system requirements understanding the change in system capability against an established design baseline.b. Development of design specifications and carry out design activities in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards.c. Developing, maintaining, and improving engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.d. Coordination and completion of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports/presentations with suggested recommendations to support the design of improvements.e. Review/agreement of External Interface documents and management of interface baseline.f. Leading other engineering activities such as performance testing, human factors, safety analysis, information assurance etc.Requirements:
Proven ability of working with Software SystemsProven ability of developing and enhancing a software product based on business requirementsHas had exposure to regulatory and statutory requirements of Software products and understands potential liabilitiesAbility to operate in a large, complex multi-project environmentProven ability within several systems engineering disciplines (such as Requirements Analysis, System Design, Human Factors, Performance Analysis, System Acceptance Management, Safety (e.g. Functional Failure & Fault Tree Analysis), Security)Proven ability of delivering systems, working to deadlines, and working in a pressurised environment
Additional Information:The successful candidate will need to be capable of gaining a UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level.
