About the role
We are seeking a competent and proactive Design Coordinator to join a large-scale construction project delivering a new building housing a baggage system at Heathrow Airport. The project is currently in RIBA Stage 5 (Manufacturing and Construction) and approaching Stage 6 (Handover and Close Out). The successful candidate will focus on problem-solving, quality control, and tracking design deliverables to ensure the building becomes fully operational.This predominantly site-based role requires a minimum of three days per week on site at Heathrow Compass Centre, with travel to terminals and external designers or subcontractors as necessary. The Design Coordinator will support the Tranche 4 Design Manager by managing Requests for Information (RFIs), Technical Queries (TQs), concessions, and design issues, coordinating between clients, architects, engineers, and specialist subcontractors. Responsibilities include reviewing specialist workshop drawings, coordinating design changes across structural, civil, and MEP disciplines, and ensuring all technical issues are resolved to secure final Building Control sign-off.The role also involves coordinating the collection of _As-Built_ documentation and updated BIM models, leading design meetings, issuing technical minutes, tracking action items, and supporting document control teams with design information transmittals. The Design Coordinator will work in accordance with the Framework Design Management Plan and maintain necessary site passes.Skills: Degree or foundation in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture Proficiency in managing RFIs, TQs, concessions, and design issues Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors Ability to review specialist workshop drawings and ensure compliance with approved designs Strong knowledge of RIBA stages of works, particularly Stages 4 to 6 Experience managing large volumes of design open points and deliverables Familiarity with Common Data Environments (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud) and Microsoft Office tools (Excel) Understanding of Building Control processes and technical sign-off requirements Ability to coordinate and close out technical architectural and engineering issues Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain necessary site passesSoftware/Tools: Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar Common Data Environments (CDE) Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications CAD and BIM software (desirable)Certifications & Standards: Relevant degree or foundation qualification in a construction-related discipline Knowledge of RIBA stages and Building Control requirements Site safety passes and compliance with Heathrow Airport site access requirementsPlease send CVs to [email removed].
