Our client, a leading consultancy in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Senior Highways & Active Travel Engineer to join their team. The role focuses on delivering key infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on local authority work and Section 278 projects. This is a permanent opportunity, ideal for professionals with a strong background in highways engineering and active travel design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and managing highways and active travel projects, from conception to completion
• Utilising Civil 3D for 3D design work, ensuring high-quality outputs
• Collaborating with local authorities and other stakeholders to meet project requirements
• Conducting site assessments and surveys to inform project planning and design
• Preparing technical reports and documentation to support project development
• Contributing to team discussions and strategy for managing workload and project timelines
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Job Requirements:

• Significant experience in highways engineering and active travel projects
• Proficiency in Civil 3D for infrastructure design beyond 2D capabilities
• Strong understanding of local authority and Section 278 processes
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead and coordinate multiple projects
• Strong communication skills for liaising with stakeholders and team members
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage tight deadlines
• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification
