Join Our Team
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Food Safety Business Compliance Officer to help protect public health and support local businesses in achieving high standards of food safety and regulatory compliance.
This is an opportunity to work with some friendly experienced staff in a positive busy learning environment. You could be taking a water sample from a ship, swimming pool, or collecting shellfish samples from one of our two beautiful shellfish beds in the morning and inspecting low risk food businesses in the afternoon.
We will actively encourage you to partake in projects and national studies across the fields of food safety, health & safety and public health for the benefit of the local community. You will have a planned workload with ad hoc work such as complaints, investigating infectious disease cases or follow-up work from other officers. For this role communication is key, with the ability to build instant rapport, having a clear professional direct approach to resolve issues.
This role will involve you managing your own time and liaising with our other regulatory support officer, working some unsociable hours will be required, although infrequently. The successful candidate may be tasked with applying for grants and attending meetings with the Food Standards Agency sporadically.
We work with some businesses as a primary authority partner so you will have the opportunity to understand how the food industry works from the business perspective assisting food officers with inspections and audits of premises out of Lancaster District.
