About the role

All about the Role

Peterborough is one of Britain's most exciting and fastest-growing Cities and it is preparing for change. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of this change and join Peterborough City Council's Procurement Team as a Category Manager focusing on the Council's integration of City College Peterborough and Peterborough Ltd, and the preparation for Local Government Reform.

All about our Team

Local Authorities invest heavily in supporting their communities and residents, whether this is through education, leisure facilities, social care or environmental services. The Procurement Team supports the City Council to achieve best value for money for the services, works or goods that it purchases. We are a strong, inclusive and friendly team with a supportive culture and we value the opportunities to look at things differently and support innovation within the City Council.

We work directly with internal stakeholders and external providers to manage activities that facilitate value for money and provide ongoing client support to deliver continuous cost savings, performance and process improvements for the Council.  We deliver a wide range of procurements both strategic and tactical in nature across the Council to provide end-to-end procurement support. This means that we provide support from the moment that we are instructed right through the procurement process to contract management.

The Procurement Team work within a category management model that separates the key directorates of Corporate Services, Place and Economy, and Social Care and Public Health. This role will support across all three directorates.
