Class 1 Building Control Inspector

A reputable London Local Authority is seeking a Class 1 Building Control Inspector to join its Building Control team during an exciting period of growth and increased development activity.

Rate: £280–£300 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: London 
Contract: Interim

You'll play a key role in ensuring new developments comply with Building Regulations while providing expert technical advice to residents, developers, architects and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake Building Control inspections on domestic and low-risk construction projects within the scope of your Class 1 Registered Building Inspector registration.
• Assess Building Regulation applications, plans and technical submissions, ensuring compliance with current Building Regulations and associated legislation.
• Carry out site inspections and prepare clear, accurate inspection reports, identifying non-compliance where necessary and recommending appropriate actions.
• Provide professional technical advice and guidance to homeowners, developers, architects, contractors and other stakeholders throughout the construction process.
• Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations and all relevant statutory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records using Building Control systems and contribute to the efficient delivery of the Building Control service.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to deliver high-quality, customer-focused Building Control services.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high professional and regulatory standards.

About You

We're looking for an enthusiastic Building Control professional who has:

• Current registration as a Class 1 Registered Building Inspector (RBI) with the Building Safety Regulator.
• Experience working within a Local Authority, Approved Inspector or Building Control environment.
• Sound knowledge of the Building Regulations, Building Safety Act and associated legislation.
• Experience carrying out site inspections and assessing Building Regulation applications.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to a range of stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to delivering high-quality Building Control services.
