SEN Teacher Required for Specialist Deaf School We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our exceptional specialist Deaf School in Wandsworth from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN professional who is committed to ensuring Deaf children and young people receive an outstanding and inclusive education. The successful candidate will work within a highly supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that enable pupils to achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
This role would be particularly suited to:
- An experienced SEN Teacher
- A qualified Teacher of the Deaf
- A teacher with British Sign Language (BSL) qualifications
- A mainstream teacher with significant experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments and additional SEND needs
✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
✅ Proven experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
✅ Experience working with children with hearing impairments and/or Deaf pupils
✅ Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs
✅ Strong understanding of EHCPs and person-centred learning
✅ Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Highly Desirable
⭐ BSL Qualification (Level 1, 2, 3 or above)
⭐ Experience using British Sign Language within an educational setting
⭐ Qualified Teacher of the Deaf Status
⭐ Experience working within a specialist SEND or Deaf provision
⭐ Knowledge of Total Communication approaches and Deaf awareness strategies
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of Deaf learners.
- Create an inclusive, engaging and accessible learning environment.
- Support pupils with communication, language and social development.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Audiologists and other professionals.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to annual reviews and EHCP outcomes.
- Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external agencies.
- Promote independence, confidence and achievement for all learners.
- Maintain a safe and nurturing educational environment.
- Inner London Teachers Pay Scale 2026/27.
