SEN Teaching Assistant Job in Liverpool

Key Responsibilities – SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one support and delivering targeted interventions.
• Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and complex learning difficulties.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
• Assisting teachers with classroom activities and lesson preparation.
• Promoting communication, independence, and social interaction.
• Recording pupil progress and contributing to education and support plans.
• Assisting with personal care and mobility support where required.
• Working closely with teachers, therapists, parents, carers, and external agencies.

Essential Requirements

Successful applicants will have:

• A minimum of six months’ experience working within a UK school, SEN setting, alternative provision, residential care setting, or a similar environment.
• Experience supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
• Experience working with pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, speech and language needs, or complex needs.
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential).
• Strong communication, behaviour management, and teamwork skills.
• A patient, adaptable, and compassionate approach.
• An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service or a willingness to obtain one.
