About the role

I am recruiting on behalf of my client for an experienced Paint Sprayer to join their established manufacturing team based in Poole.

My client designs and manufactures high-quality engineered products for the global defence and maritime sectors, delivering robust, precision-built solutions that are relied upon in demanding environments around the world. They are now looking to add a skilled Paint Sprayer to their Paint Shop team to support continued production growth and maintain the exceptionally high standards their customers expect.

As a Paint Sprayer, you will play a key role in preparing and finishing components to an exceptionally high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in producing quality work, enjoys working as part of a close-knit manufacturing team and has experience with industrial paint spraying processes.

The successful Paint Sprayer will be responsible for:
  • Applying primer and finish coats to a high standard in accordance with process instructions and manufacturer technical data sheets (MTDS).
  • Preparing components through masking, prepping and flatting as required.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to understand painting and masking requirements.
  • Following manufacturer safety data sheets (MSDS) and maintaining safe working practices within a hazardous environment.
  • Inspecting completed work to ensure the highest quality standards are achieved.
  • Completing paint mix record cards accurately.
  • De-masking and packaging finished products in accordance with company procedures.
  • Supporting colleagues with lifting and moving components safely.
  • Keeping spray booths, flattening booths and ovens clean and well maintained.
  • Working to production schedules and daily work lists.
  • Maintaining accurate MRP bookings and recording time correctly.
  • Assisting with spray booth maintenance, including filter changes when required.
  • Supporting other operational activities as requested by the business.
To be considered for this Paint Sprayer position, you should have:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in industrial paint spraying processes.
  • Experience preparing components to a high standard before final paint.
  • Knowledge of paint film thicknesses and gloss levels.
  • Experience working with stove enamel, 2-pack epoxy/polyurethane and acrylic paint systems.
  • The ability to produce high-quality, inclusion-free painted finishes.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings for masking requirements.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to inspect your own work.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A reliable, punctual and proactive approach to work.
  • Previous MOD or defence manufacturing experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
In return, my client offers the opportunity to join a well-established engineering business supplying products worldwide, where quality, teamwork and continuous improvement are highly valued. You will become part of a supportive production environment with opportunities to develop your skills while contributing to the manufacture of industry-leading products.
If you are an experienced Paint Sprayer looking for your next opportunity within a precision engineering environment, I would be pleased to discuss this Paint Sprayer position with you.
