Overview
Are you a Sub Agent with a Civil Engineering background looking to advance your career on one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure projects?
We are recruiting a Sub Agent to join a major contractor delivering critical works on the Sizewell C development. Role
As a Sub Agent, you will support the Site Agent and Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and delivery of civil engineering works on the Sizewell C project.
You will be responsible for managing day-to-day site activities, supervising engineering teams and subcontractors, ensuring health and safety compliance, and helping drive programme performance. This role offers a balance of technical engineering involvement and operational management, making it an excellent opportunity for an ambitious civil engineering professional looking to progress towards Site Agent level.
You will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications, quality standards, and client expectations.
Responsibilities
As a Sub Agent, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Site Agent in the successful delivery of civil engineering works packages
Managing engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors across designated work areas
Coordinating daily construction activities to ensure programme objectives are achieved
Preparing and reviewing RAMS, work package plans, and method statements
Monitoring project progress and reporting on productivity, programme, and performance
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
Managing site records, permits, inspections, and technical documentation
Supporting temporary works coordination and ensuring engineering compliance
Working closely with commercial teams to monitor resources, costs, and subcontractor performance
Identifying and mitigating project risks and supporting problem resolution on site
Attending client, coordination, and progress meetings as required
Promoting a positive safety culture and driving continuous improvement across the project
Person
To be successful in this Sub Agent job, you will possess strong civil engineering knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and experience supporting the delivery of infrastructure or major construction projects.
Previous experience as a Sub Agent, Senior Engineer, Section Engineer, or equivalent within civil engineering
Strong background in infrastructure, energy, highways, rail, utilities, or major civil engineering projects
Experience supervising subcontractors and site-based project teams
Good understanding of NEC contracts and project delivery processes
Knowledge of temporary works, quality assurance, and construction methodologies
Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
SMSTS and CSCS certification preferred
Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills
A proactive and solutions-focused approach to project delivery
Ambition to progress into Site Agent and Project Management positions in the future
