Employment Advisor – Connect to Work Programme (SEQF)
Location: Enfield (Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office/community settings)
Contract: Initial 3-month contract
Rate: Competitive (DOE)
DBS: Enhanced DBS required
The Opportunity
Our Local Authority client is seeking an experienced Employment Advisor to join their Equals Employment Team and support the delivery of the Connect to Work Programme. This government-funded initiative helps residents with learning disabilities, neurodiversity and other complex barriers to gain and sustain meaningful paid employment.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver person-centred employment support in line with the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF), providing end-to-end guidance from initial engagement through to sustained employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of participants, providing tailored one-to-one employment support.
- Conduct vocational profiling, identifying participants’ skills, strengths, aspirations and support needs.
- Develop personalised action plans to help individuals progress into employment.
- Deliver practical employability support, including CV writing, job searching, online applications and interview preparation.
- Support participants with travel planning, workplace expectations and pre-employment checks.
- Build positive relationships with employers to promote inclusive recruitment and identify suitable job opportunities.
- Coordinate job matching alongside Job Coaches, Occupational Therapists and wider programme staff.
- Support participants through job starts, inductions and workplace adjustments.
- Provide ongoing in-work support to improve confidence, resolve workplace issues and promote long-term job retention.
- Liaise with employers to resolve attendance, performance or workplace concerns where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate case records and performance data in line with programme requirements, GDPR and audit standards.
- Work collaboratively with internal council teams, DWP, training providers and community organisations to remove barriers to employment.
- Promote the Connect to Work programme through partnership working and community engagement activities.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement and uphold safeguarding, equality and inclusion standards at all times.
Essential Experience
- Experience delivering face-to-face employability or employment support.
- Proven experience supporting individuals into sustainable employment.
- Strong knowledge of job searching, CV writing, applications and interview preparation.
- Experience providing ongoing in-work support and job retention advice.
- Experience managing a caseload and meeting performance targets.
- Excellent communication, coaching and motivational skills.
- Experience working with employers to support recruitment and workplace adjustments.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with accurate case recording and IT proficiency.
- Understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity and person-centred approaches.
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, neurodiversity or complex barriers to employment is highly desirable.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF).
- Experience working within Local Authority or DWP-funded employment programmes.
- Experience supporting people with learning disabilities into paid employment.
- Understanding of supported employment models and partnership working across multiple agencies.
