OR108502 – Recycling Advisor

Main Purpose of the Role

To encourage residents to recycle correctly, reduce waste, and improve recycling participation through face-to-face engagement, advice, and community outreach.

Typical Day May Look Like:

• Visiting homes and speaking with residents about recycling.
• Carrying out property surveys and recording recycling issues.
• Giving advice on food waste, recycling, and reducing household waste.
• Attending community events and supporting recycling campaigns.
• Sharing information materials and guidance with residents.
• Recording feedback, survey results, and engagement activities.
• Working with internal teams to help improve local recycling services.
• Travelling across the area and working outdoors when required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage with residents to promote correct recycling habits.
• Provide clear advice on recycling and waste reduction.
• Identify recycling problems and help find solutions.
• Collect and record accurate information from residents.
• Support community campaigns and environmental initiatives.
• Build positive relationships with residents and local groups.
• Follow health and safety procedures and company policies.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience working with the public, customers, or communities.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organization and attention to detail.
• Basic IT skills for recording information.
• Problem-solving skills and a positive approach.
• Interest in recycling, sustainability, and protecting the environment.
• Comfortable working outdoors and walking long distances.

Qualifications / Training:

• Good general education (GCSEs or equivalent).
• Experience or training in customer service, community engagement, or sustainability is desirable.
