We are seeking an experienced Networks Specialist Technical Project Manager to lead a critical copper-to-fibre migration across our client’s large, geographically dispersed UK branch estate. With copper services approaching retirement, you will provide the technical leadership, project control and supplier oversight needed to deliver to the remaining fibre provisions while protecting branch continuity.You will work across internal technology, transformation, operations and service teams, as well as third-party network, managed-service and field-delivery partners. This is a delivery-focused role requiring strong network knowledge, confident stakeholder management and the ability to challenge plans, resolve technical issues and maintain momentum in a complex programme.Key Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end technical delivery of branch migrations from copper services to fibre or approved alternative connectivity solutions.Develop and maintain the technical delivery plan, covering milestones, dependencies, risks, resources, critical-path activity and operational readiness.Provide subject-matter expertise across fibre, copper, broadband, cellular and satellite connectivity, routers, resilience and network security.Manage and challenge network providers, managed-service partners and field-delivery suppliers on plans, timescales, technical constraints, service levels and delivery commitments.Assess options for locations where fibre is unavailable or delayed, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, cost-effective and supportable.Identify and resolve technical risks, dependencies and escalations, including provider lead times, installation constraints, service cessation and branch readiness.Coordinate testing, migration, acceptance, service transition and handover into business-as-usual support.Lead technical workstream meetings and provide clear updates on progress, risks, decisions and required interventions to senior stakeholders.A minimum of five years’ experience managing technical projects or workstreams within network, telecommunications, connectivity or infrastructure environments.Strong practical knowledge of UK telecommunications, including copper services, fibre, broadband, cellular connectivity, satellite connectivity and resilience solutions.Proven experience managing third-party network providers, managed-service providers, infrastructure suppliers and field-service partners.Experience delivering complex technical change across a geographically dispersed estate, ideally within branch, retail, operational or customer-facing environments.Strong project management capability across planning, critical paths, dependencies, risks, issues, governance and supplier performance.Ability to assess and challenge technical designs, implementation approaches and supplier proposals.Excellent stakeholder communication, with the ability to translate complex technical matters into clear business impacts and decisions.Experience managing service transition and handover from programme delivery into business-as-usual support.A relevant project management qualification, such as PRINCE2, APM, AgilePM or MSP, is desirable; networking, telecommunications or ITIL qualifications would also be advantageous.
Skills/Experience Required
