Children’s Support Worker – SEN School Based
Location: Stockton
Contract: Term-time only
Hours: 08:30 – 15:30, Monday – Friday
Start: September start available

This inclusive SEND setting provides education and support for pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Role: Children’s Support Worker – SEN School Based
As a Children’s Support Worker, you will work alongside teachers and wider support staff to help pupils engage with learning, build independence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all school policies, safeguarding procedures, and health and safety guidance

  • Deliver tailored one-to-one and small group support based on individual learning plans

  • Support pupils with a variety of additional needs, including autism, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties

  • Use positive behaviour support strategies to encourage engagement and emotional regulation

  • Promote the development of communication, confidence, and social interaction skills

  • Adapt classroom activities to meet pupils’ individual abilities and learning styles

  • Provide personal care support where necessary

  • Observe, record, and communicate pupil progress, wellbeing, and behaviour with the wider team

Essential Criteria (Non-Negotiables)

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs

  • Knowledge of SEN, particularly autism and/or SEMH

  • A patient, resilient, and positive approach to supporting young people

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Willingness to provide personal care where required

  • A flexible, caring, and proactive attitude
