Head Registered Veterinary Nurse

Introduction

Candor Vets is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to take on a varied and rewarding Head Nurse role within a dedicated hospital team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an RCVS accredited first opinion hospital with a large team of experienced vets, nurses, and receptionists.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining the highest standards of nursing care and professional performance. The role involves promoting and developing clinical training for Animal Care Assistants (ACAs), Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs), and Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), including acting as a clinical coach. The Head Nurse will enjoy a variety of nursing duties, including patient care, surgical nursing, critical care, and laboratory work.

The position is full-time, working 37.5 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, with shifts between 7 am and 10 pm. It includes 1:8 weekend days, which are given back as lieu days, and 1-2 bank holidays per year. There are no out-of-hours (OOH) duties, as the practice has a dedicated OOH team, though some assistance may be required as needed.
