Zest Education is currently recruiting passionate and adaptable Key Stage 1 Teachers for day-to-day supply work in a number of thriving primary schools in and around Stafford. These flexible roles offer a fantastic opportunity for experienced teachers or Early Career Teachers (ECTs) to build confidence, gain varied classroom experience, or achieve a better work-life balance while continuing to make a real difference to pupils’ education.
Our partner schools are welcoming and well-resourced, with a strong focus on nurturing pupils through creative, child-centred learning. As a supply teacher, you’ll become a valued part of these school communities—even for short-term placements—ensuring continuity in learning and supporting pupils in reaching their full potential.
What to Expect from the Role:
Each day will bring a new challenge and the chance to step into a variety of classroom environments. You may be called upon to cover lessons for sickness, PPA time, training days, or short-term absences across Year 1 and Year 2.
Your responsibilities will typically include:
-
Delivering pre-prepared lesson plans and adapting them where needed to suit pupils’ needs
-
Creating a calm, focused learning environment where all children feel supported and engaged
-
Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
-
Ensuring a smooth handover for the regular class teacher, including feedback on pupil progress
-
Working closely with support staff, including TAs, SEN staff, and SLT, to ensure pupils’ needs are met
While the work is day-to-day, schools often request regular cover for known teachers, allowing for consistency and the opportunity to build strong relationships with staff and pupils alike.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
-
Recent classroom experience within Key Stage 1 (Year 1 or Year 2)
-
Strong behaviour management and organisational skills
-
A flexible, proactive, and enthusiastic attitude
-
Confidence to work independently and adapt quickly to new settings
-
A genuine passion for supporting young learners’ development
ECTs are welcome to apply – supply teaching can be a fantastic way to explore different settings and gather varied teaching experience.
