About the role

Executive officer- Commercial support

Location: 5 Wellington Place, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 4AP
Pay Rate: day one rate £14.01 increasing to £15.17 after 12 week
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Core hours 9:00am to 5:00pm)
Working Pattern: Full Time, Hybrid Working (typically 2 days per week in the office)
Contract: Temporary ongoing Assignment, potential for extension
Start Date: ASAP
Security Clearance: Basic DBS Required
Training: on job training

Brook Street in partnership with the Ministry of justice has a fantastic opportunity to join their team as an Executive officer- Commercial. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to gain experience within a commercial and procurement environment, supporting a range of sourcing, contract management, and procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities

As an Executive officer - Commercial, you will provide administrative and operational support across the commercial life cycle, including:

Commercial and Procurement Support

  • Providing administrative support to commercial colleagues across business-as-usual and project activities.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of category strategies.
  • Supporting procurement activities, including market engagement, sourcing exercises, supplier communications, and procurement route assessments.
  • Conducting research, data analysis, and requirements gathering to support category planning and demand forecasting.
  • Maintaining commercial catalogues and systems to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.

Contract and Supplier Management

  • Assisting with supplier relationship management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Supporting governance processes, risk management, change control, compliance monitoring, and performance reporting.
  • Producing management information, spend analysis, and commercial reports.
  • Identifying and escalating commercial risks where appropriate.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Supporting commercial colleagues in providing advice and guidance to business areas.
  • Assisting in gathering information to support business cases and commercial decision-making.

Team and Department Support

  • Contributing to the maintenance and development of commercial systems and processes.
  • Supporting catalogue and content management activities.

Essential Skills and Experience

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Strong administrative experience in a professional environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder and customer service skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • An understanding of commercial, procurement, or contract management principles.
  • Awareness of risk management and compliance processes.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience within procurement, commercial, or contract management environments.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement principles.
  • Awareness of public sector commercial legislation and procurement regulations.
  • Experience analysing data and producing reports.
