About the role
Admin Officer with Usher Duties (AO)
Location: St Albans (St Peters St, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL1 3LB)
* Grade: AO
* Working pattern: Mon-Fri, 9:00-17:00 (fully office based), 37 hours per week
* Pay: £13.36 per hour for the first 12 weeks, then £15.59 afterwards
* Training: Ongoing training when in post
* Leave: Pre-booked leave can be accommodated within reason
* Clearance level: Enhanced DBS, completed by Brook Street for successful candidate

Hiring for a reputed client, you'll be the steady, welcoming presence that helps court days run smoothly-combining front-of-house support with professional administration behind the scenes.
What you'll be doing:
* Welcome court users including judiciary, juries, solicitors and barristers, police, and members of the public
* Call people into court/hearings in priority order, coordinating with Court Clerks and Legal Advisers
* Liaise with the Witness Service as necessary
* Keep parties informed about changes (e.g., courtroom and hearing times)
* Escort court users in and out of the building and provide support to colleagues and judiciary outside of hearing times
* Collect and deliver files and bundles to judiciary and clerks, ensuring the necessary papers are in place
* Assist with preparations for hearings/tribunals/trials/meetings, including room setup and end-of-day clearing
* Arrange and support court hearings
* Navigate hearings via video link (onsite and remotely)
* Help members of the public with general queries when attending hearings
* Complete general admin tasks: filing, printing, data entry, typing, and handling incoming/outgoing post
* Prepare papers and files for hearings and meetings; produce and update court documents and internal records
* Draft standard letters and documents
* Provide clerking support for Civil and Family Courts, tribunals and hearings
What you'll bring:
* A friendly, professional approach and confidence dealing with a wide range of people
* Strong administrative accuracy-organised with a keen eye for detail when handling documents and records
* Ability to work to priority order and stay composed in a busy environment
* Clear communication skills, including confidence explaining processes and providing updates to others
* Willingness to support both front-of-house duties and back-office administration as required
* Comfort working with video-linked processes and supporting activities across onsite and remote arrangements
* A practical, "get it done" mindset-happy to assist colleagues to keep everything moving smoothly
