Job description

Oxford City Council is looking for a talented Refugee & Resettlement Manager who has a passion for supporting refugees and other migrant groups as they look to settle in Oxford.  The City Council is committed to providing support to those forced to flee their homes including from government backed schemes such as Homes for Ukraine Scheme, UKRS (United Kingdom resettlement scheme), Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP) and the Community Sponsorship programme.

The role is integral is supporting the delivery of the Council of Sanctuary Framework which aims to support settlement and community cohesion in Oxford and by doing so making Oxford a more welcoming city for all residents. The successful candidate will work with senior leaders to implement a strategic and operational response to refugee resettlement and wider migration issues which will include both emerging priorities and new policy developments in this area. 

We are looking for someone with:   

  •  Excellent communication skills to work effectively with customers, colleagues and partners across local, regional and national organisations   

  • The confidence and motivation to lead a high performing resettlement team, develop effective processes and procedures in order to provide an excellent service   

  • Sensitivity and compassion for people affected by conflict, displacement and trauma, placing risk management and safeguarding at the heart of service delivery  

  • Experience of managing complex budgets and projects, ensuring a high level of performance management
  • Ability to innovate and use a data driven approach to respond to new opportunities and challenges.
