About the role
6 Month Contract (initially)Outside IR35 – up to £45 per hour ltdJob Role:We are seeking a Thermal Modelling Engineer to support the design and development of advanced aerospace structures operating in extreme thermal environments. The successful candidate will develop numerical thermal models of airframe structures subjected to aerodynamic heating during high-speed flight and re-entry, using simulation to predict internal component temperatures and inform structural design decisions.Key Responsibilities:- Develop transient thermal models of aerospace structures subjected to high-temperature flight environments, including atmospheric re-entry and hypersonic flight profiles.- Predict temperature distributions through airframe skins, structural members and internal equipment bays.- Finite Element thermal modelling- Transient thermal analysis- Thermal stress prediction- Heat transfer calculations- Thermal protection system (TPS) assessments- Material property evaluation- Test instrumentation using thermocouples and data acquisition systems- Correlation of simulation with experimental dataKey Skills and Experience:- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar.- Experience in thermal analysis of aerospace or high-temperature structures.Understanding of: - Heat transfer- Thermodynamics- Materials science- Structural behaviour at elevated temperatures
