We are currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistants to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Burgess Hill. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs through a combination of 1:1 support and small group interventions, helping them thrive both academically and socially.

The Role
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SENDCo, and other support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with additional educational needs.
You will play a key role in helping children build confidence, develop independence, and engage positively in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities
Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEND
Delivering targeted small group interventions
Supporting children with social, emotional, and communication needs
Assisting pupils with classroom activities and learning tasks
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Promoting inclusion and encouraging participation in all aspects of school life
Supporting behaviour management strategies where required
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
A caring, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable
Previous experience working in a school environment
Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or other SEND requirements
Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or SEND
Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies
