Atkins Search has a fantastic opportunity for a skilled, professional Senior Planner to join a high-profile, UK-leading Tier 1 main contractor based in Birmingham, working across both tender and live construction projects.
This role requires the successful candidate to operate across the Nottingham and Solihull office with flexibility to work from home.

Role
As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in managing the planning function across multiple projects, ensuring programmes are well-structured, achievable, and effectively communicated. You will be responsible for both pre-construction (tender) and live project planning, working closely with bid teams, project managers, and key stakeholders.
Operating across the Midlands, you will be involved in major, dynamic, and interesting projects across various sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, and industrial, with values of up to circa £80M.
Responsibilities
Manage both live construction projects and tender planning
Develop project prelims during tender stage, including producing schedules and obtaining prices
Produce construction method statements and provide responses for construction tenders and PQQ’s
Develop logistics and traffic management plans for tenders
Organise or contribute to the production of 4D animations and CGI visualisations to support planning and bid submissions
Create logic-linked design, procurement, and construction programmes for both tenders and live projects.
Develop contract and target programmes for construction projects to ensure compliance and project efficiency
Work with both JCT and NEC contracts, ensuring that planning activities align with contractual obligations
Develop tender programmes that align with project methodology, budget, and design.
Manage and update construction programmes, incorporating change events and minimising delays
Provide detailed programme analysis to support project delivery
Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure accurate cost and resource planning.
Attend progress meetings and present project updates to clients and internal teams.
Utilise project management software to track programme performance and risk.
Person
Proven experience in construction planning for both tender and live projects
Strong understanding of JCT and NEC contracts.
Preconstruction and deliver experience managing multi-discipline construction projects with values between £20M to £100M
Proficiency Asta Powerproject
Ability to analyse complex project data and provide actionable insights
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Experience managing multi-discipline construction projects
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously
