Atkins Search are recruiting for an Assistant Estimator to join a n established construction main contractor based in Leicestershire.



Client



Our client is a privately owned, leading main contractor specialising in healthcare, commercial, and education sectors. They have grown year-on-year, with exciting projects and a secure pipeline of work, particularly within the medical imaging sector.

Role


Atkins Search are looking for an Assistant Estimator to support the Pre-Construction team in producing competitive tender submissions for turnkey refurbishment projects.



This is a hands-on role that offers exposure to diverse projects and the chance to develop your skills in a supportive environment, working closely with our experienced estimators and senior management.



Responsibilities

Review tender documentation to determine subcontract trade package and material requirements
Compile and issue subcontractor and supplier enquiries
Analyse and align received subcontract tenders
Identify tender qualifications and exclusions
Prepare tender cost documents using in-house formats
Conduct take-offs for general works such as floor finishes, partitions, and ceilings
Assist in building tender-stage programmes for smaller projects
Price preliminaries based on project duration and requirements


Person

The suitable individual for the Assistant Estimator role will be proactive, self-motivated, and eager to build a long-term career in estimating. Key attributes include:
Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office
Excellent time management and negotiation abilities
Commitment to learning and progressing to an Estimator position
Ability to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines
Experience in refurbishments or a trade background is advantageous
