Registered Manager – Children’s Residential (EBD)

Joneshouse Recruitment is seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a 3-bed children’s residential home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

As Registered Manager, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, leading and developing a dedicated staff team while ensuring the service consistently meets all regulatory and quality standards.

This role offers strong leadership support, a focus on reflective practice, professional development, and a culture centred on achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

• Hold full Registered Manager responsibility for the day-to-day running of a 3-bed EBD children’s home

• Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards

• Provide strong leadership and safeguarding oversight to ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people

• Lead, motivate, and develop the staff team through supervision, appraisals, and training

• Create and maintain a stable, nurturing, and therapeutic environment promoting positive outcomes

• Maintain high standards of care planning, risk assessment, and record keeping

• Build positive relationships with placing authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals

• Manage referrals, admissions, and placement matching appropriately

• Oversee staffing, rotas, budgets, and resources

• Respond confidently to safeguarding concerns, incidents, and complaints

• Lead and prepare for Ofsted inspections, ensuring the home remains inspection-ready

• Promote a culture of reflective practice, continuous improvement, and child-centred care

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards)

• Proven experience in a management or senior role within a children’s residential setting (EBD experience preferred)

• Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding requirements

• Experience leading, supervising, and developing staff teams

• Strong leadership and people management skills

• Ability to make sound, child-centred decisions in complex situations

• Experience in risk assessment, care planning, and behaviour management

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organisational and time-management abilities

• Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate, compliant records

• Resilient, reflective, and empathetic leadership approach

• Full UK driving licence
